Judas The Betrayer

42

In Luke 22 we come across probably the most famous lost person in all of the Bible. His name of course is Judas.

Judas is the man that betrayed the Lord Jesus for thirty pieces of silver which was the price of a slave.

If you study the New Testament you will find that Judas is mentioned in all four Gospels. The Old Testament also speaks prophetically of Judas.

Judas was a Disciple: He was one of the 12 disciples that was commissioned by Jesus and he ministered with Jesus and the other disciples for around 3 years.

It appears from Scripture that the disciples really trusted Judas in that he was the treasurer for their ministry team. We learn from John 13.29 that Judas was the one that had the money bag.
Judas was a Disciple but Judas was a deceiver, Judas was a thief. I think money was an idol in the heart of Judas.

Judas's love of money was a destructive influence in his life.
Judas's life is a warning to those that love money.

As you read the Bible you discover that though Judas was a Disciple, Judas did not believe.
Judas saw the miracles of Jesus. He was there when Jesus fed the thousands. He knew that Jesus could drive out demons, walk on water, calm the sea, heal the blind and that Jesus could even raise the dead. Yet Judas did not believe.

Judas went to the best bible school ever. He sat under the most wonderful teacher that graced the earth, the Lord Jesus. Judas heard the way of salvation from the lips of Christ and he saw the way of salvation in Christ Himself and yet he did not believe.
