He Ascended Up (sermon notes only)

The theme of the fourth chapter is unity in the church. The theme of this second paragraph in the chapter is the ascension of Christ up to heaven. He descended first to earth in order to fulfill God's word and to execute His perfect salvation. As a military leader who has vanquished His foes, He won treasures which He gave to His "saints". By these "gifts" the saints edify one another "for the work of the ministry" and the glory of God.
