Is Worship a Waste?

Palm Sunday marks the start of Holy Week, a time of commemorating Jesus' last actions before dying for our sins and being raised to make us right with God.

The gospels record an important event that probably happened the day before the Triumphal Entry of Palm Sunday. Jesus was lavishly anointed by his friend Mary in preparation for his burial. Matthew and Mark both tell us that this event is vitally connected to the proclamation of the gospel (Matt. 26:13; Mark 14:9).

Mary's extravagance both tells the story of the gospel and teaches us how to respond to it.
