The Ugliness of Casting Off Restraint

We living in a fighting world that, for the most part despises restraint…

The law was given for our own protection and that we would be restrained to be neighborly or suffer the consequences. For without the law men naturally cast off all restraint. But there are no laws against kindness... only against unkind acts. The cross is validation that without Jesus we cannot faithfully and fruitfully love God and our neighbors. What profit is that you love those that love you... that's not profitable because that kind of love is self motivated... it's still about you. We and our love needs Jesus.

If your flesh had its way, you'd live with no restraint, you'd indulge in whatever your heart desires, you'd do your best to cultivate an atmosphere that made you happy and you'd give very little to no attention to Jesus, His word or His ways•unless•it would benefit your own agenda and status.

"Where there is no revelation, there will be no vision for the people. And people without a clearly defined vision have no limits and boundaries. And without the restraints of a vision that can't be described or defended, the people will eventually perish: BUT he that keeps the law, happy is he" (Proverbs 29:18).

"Where there is no clarity, conviction, compassion and correction of law, the people will cast off restraint... but happy is he who keeps the law" (Proverbs 29:18).
