They were just shadows that point us to the substance, to Christ who has come as both High Priest and Sacrifice for our sin. We learn then about the nature of the atonement. Christ offered an Incarnational Atonement offering Himself as a substitute for us as God in human flesh, an Impeccable Atonement that involves One Sacrifice offered by One Lord and One Body, and an Iron Clad Atonement that offers true and final Remission of Sins.
