10. Food, Philistines, Foolishness

Richard Rohlin continues to show the stark contrast between King Saul and his son Jonathan. While Saul is hiding in a cave worried about the overwhelming Philistine force, Jonathan takes matter into his own hands. Jonathan and his armor bearer storm the Philistine camp. The 2 of them quickly kill 20 Philistines. Then confusion ensues. The Philistines -- because most peoples dressed in similar fashion that day (even though the Philistines were better armed) -- turn on one another. Saul had called for a priest to seek God's will. But he is now even more impatient than he was when Samuel was a week late. He refuses to wait on the priest to seek God's will when he finds out there is confusion in the Philistine camp. Saul takes the ark into battle as a talisman. He then enforces a foolish condition on his armed forces -- which caused them to be faint. Listen to Richard explain the significance of these things.
