Christ crucified - A stumbling block and foolishness to many

Paul ever sough to preach Christ and Him crucified. However, this preaching of Christ was met with a twofold rejection in many quarters.

To the diaspora Jews, in different cities throughout the Roman Empire, Christ crucified was a stumbling block.

To the Greeks with all their learning and love of philosophy it was foolishness.

This twofold rejection is still a common response to the preaching of Christ crucified today. The Jew and the Greek are representatives of two different classes of people. One views Christ as a stumbling block and the other as foolishness.
