This Jesus

Imagine his mother Mary, who watched her sinless son hang on this cross for 6 hours while the religious leaders mocked him as they walked by. Now she finally understood the words of Simeon some 30 years earlier from Luke 2:35 - "through this child a sword will pierce your own soul." Her son was gone. Everyone who loved Jesus was disillusioned. "How could it have ended this way?" they thought. Their hope was gone. Oh but Jesus never felt this hopelessness. He knew his Father would not leave him in the grave, and so in the early morning darkness of the first day of the week, the same Spirit that hovered over the formless waters at creation now hovered over the human body of the eternal Son of God and divine breath filled the lungs of the Creator of the universe once again.
