Ten Principles of Harmonious Christian Living
- The strong in faith have a responsibility to welcome the weak in faith
The strong have a responsibility to not despise the weak (14:3a)
The weak have a responsibility to not judge the strong (14:3b) - Each Christian must be convinced in his own mind of what is right (14:5)
- All sincere Christians do what they do in honor of the Lord (14:6)
- Christians are primarily accountable to the Lord for how they live (14:8-9)
- No disputable matter is wrong in itself, but is wrong if one thinks it is so (14:14)
- Passing judgment on professing Christians can result in their stumbling (14:13)
- The kingdom of God is about bigger things than disputable matters! (14:17)
- Privacy of Christian liberty exercise is necessary to preclude stumbling (14:22)
- Whatever is not of faith is sin (14:23)
- The duty of the strong is to bear the failings of the weak (15:1)
Responsibility
The strong and the weak are to welcome one another as Christ has welcomed them (15:7)
Motivation
The God of endurance and encouragement grants us to live together
that we glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ with one voice!
(15:5-6)
A Christian man is a most free lord of all, subject to none.
a most dutiful servant of all, subject to all.
In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, charity!
