Why Doesn't Everyone Believe?

Since the blessings of being a Christian are so immense and everlasting, Why doesn't Everyone Believe in Christ? Why isn't the WHOLE WORLD celebrating our Risen Savior and Lord this morning? Why aren't all people when confronted with the truth of the gospel, repenting of their sin and trusting in Christ for salvation? Why isn't everyone giving their life to Christ, desiring to be utterly poured out in service to God?

This is a very important question and our answer has tremendous implications! We've seen the effects today of answering this question incorrectly. So we need to take our time and sort through our Lord's teaching on the matter. We've certainly gone far enough along in our gospel harmony to see varying responses to Jesus during his earthly ministry. There were certainly those who followed him, hearing and doing his word, but there were also people who manifested varieties of unbelief. Why was this so? Jesus answered that question with telling a parable that we remember as The Parable of the Sower (Mt 13:18). Jesus made use of an agricultural analogy to both instruct and illustrate why there could exist such differing responses to the gospel (the Word of the Kingdom).

We're going to conduct an investigation into this matter today. by considering three areas. We'll use agricultural nomenclature as Jesus did to tie our thoughts together.

(1) Let's Evaluate the Seed
(2) Let's Assess the Sower
(3) Let's Consider the Soil
