Our Pattern in Prayer: The Lord's Prayer

When we have a clear apprehension of the majesty of God – and a deep sense of our own unworthiness, necessities, and sins – then we will recognize that he is God – and we are not! – and so we will pray.

When we have penitent, thankful, and enlarged hearts – then we pray with understanding – we pray with faith – we pray with sincerity – and fervency – and love; we persevere in prayer – we wait upon God – and we humbly submit to his will.

When we pray in this way, our anxiety dissipates – because we remember that he is God – and we are not!
