Paul's Deliverance from Jerusalem

Paul's defense before the Sanhedrin provoked a firestorm of debate and dissension such that the commander had to forcibly remove him to the security of the Roman barracks. Paul's witness in Jerusalem had come to an end, and the Lord made this clear in an appearance to Paul that evening. He would henceforth witness to Gentile rulers, culminating with Caesar himself. Paul was finished with Jerusalem, but the city hadn't finished with him; he was going to Rome as the Lord pronounced, but that journey was to begin with his deliverance from the hands of would-be assassins.
