Faith Christ Can Trust

Westminster Shorter Catechism Answer 86: Faith in Jesus Christ is a saving grace, whereby we receive and rest upon him alone for salvation, as he is offered to us in the gospel.

Sermon Point: Rest on Christ alone for your salvation.

1. Hear the simple gospel of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
2. When you hear this simple gospel, God is offering Christ to you (1 Corinthians 9:18).
3. You must receive Christ by faith (John 1:12).
4. Faith involves knowledge, assent, and trust (Proverbs 3:5, Psalm 115:9-10).
5. Such faith is the result of grace (John 1:12-13).
6. So rest in Christ alone for your salvation (John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8-9).
