The Possibilities of the Prayer of Fatih

161

We have seen how that faith is the law of the kingdom. “According to your faith be it unto you” (Matt. 9:29). Faith is the only “currency” that is “legal tender” at the “bank of Heaven.” Faith is absolutely essential to salvation, to sanctification, to soul-winning, and to seeing an outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the church in true revival.

Wherever there is true faith, there will be prevailing, persistent prayer. In the gospels, Jesus developed the doctrine of prayer and gave us many staggering promises about its potential for laying hold of God's mighty power and intervention. What Jesus told the woman of Samaria holds true for all, “If you knew…, you would ask…” (John 4:10). “Ye have not because ye ask not” (James 4:2)

Only when we realize the possibilities of the prayer of faith will we begin to “expect great things from God” and “attempt great things for God.”

Yes, we serve a big God! He delights to answer big prayers. He invites us to ask great things of Him. When we get to Heaven, we will find many unclaimed blessings there. Let us not insult this almighty God by the paucity and meagerness of our asking. He is able to “do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think.” There is “nothing too hard for him.” He is willing to give us not only the supply of our needs but also the “desires of our hearts” if we will delight in Him (Ps 37:4). We should especially have great boldness to come before Him when we are pleading for others (Lk 11:5,6; Matt 15:22).
