Fulfilling Life's Purpose

72

As we begin a new year. It is common for us to take pause and examine our lives. Are we where we want to be?
When we do this an important question to ask is: What is my purpose in life? What would my life look like for you to be able to look back with satisfaction and say I have fulfilled my purpose? To be able to say, ‘I can die in peace?’

In today’s reading we have a picture of two people who, I believe, from God’s perspective have achieved their life's purpose. So what do we learn?

We are not told about any great achievements by either one. we are specially told that Anna from the time she was a young women did not depart from the temple but spent her time worshiping with prayer and fasting day and night. For years! No romance, no travel, No worldly success. In fact by today’s standards Anna’s life would have seemed rather pathetic.
But Luke under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit considers the appearance of these two godly saints so significant, that this passage is included in only a handful of the accounts of Jesus’ childhood.
So what do we learn from this passage? What does it tell us about we learn fulfilling our life’s purpose.
We see three aspects of what God considers essential for us to live a fulfilled life 1) A fulfilled life requires a God-focused Character, 2) A God ordained Call, 3) God-centered Content.
