The Sabbath Lord

Aim: To appreciate the mastery Christ has over all of life and creation—all of which is reflected in His Lordship of the Sabbath Day.

Exegesis: The Sabbath Lord liberates us from the bondage of man's rules (v. 23) and religion (v. 24). The Sabbath Lord feeds us through the word (v. 25) and the grace (v. 26) of God. The Sabbath Lord dignifies us by subjecting creation to man (v. 27) and subjecting Himself to manhood (v. 28).

Key verse: vv. 27-28 ''And [Jesus] said to them, 'The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.'''
