God's Vineyard

In Isaiah 5:1-6, God planted a vineyard. This vineyard was given the greatest care of any garden ever planted. This vineyard was the nation of Israel. But the vineyard did not produce good fruit. So God, the vinedresser, decided to destroy the vineyard. In Isaiah 27, God plants a vineyard. This vineyard is the same vineyard as the first, but this time, God will look after it at not let anything get in to weed out the production of fruit. What is the difference?

In John 15, Christ is the vine and the Father is the vinedresser. The difference between these two passages in Isaiah is the Lord Jesus Christ. The first vineyard was destroyed because its life was its own. But the second vineyard is cared for because its life is found in being grafted into Jesus Christ. And it will produce fruit. This sermon is an attempt to deal with the implications of such profound and life-changing truths.
