048 New Friend No Friend 2

235

"They certainly were grumpy, tight, over-conservative Christians" he thought as he parted company with Christian and Hopeful. How could Christians get so bound up in dogmatic teaching?

Meeting with some friends, he discusses the case with them, and comes to a satisfying solution. Of course, if these stiff Christians could understand this new perspective, surely they would both justify a less rigid lifestyle!

They reasoned that it is simply stupid to lose personal convenience for the sake of Christianity. Also, that is a Christian's desire is to get more comfortable and more rich, that he may do so by his religion if the opportunity presents itself. How could there be anything wrong with that? It makes him study and work harder, which is also beneficial to those to whom he ministers!

This is an issue that raises some of the heart issues involved in Christian service.
