The Righteousness of God

In Romans 3:1-8 Paul anticipates and answers four objections to his theology. Objection #1: Is there then no advantage to being a Jew? Answer: There is much advantage! The Jews were entrusted with the Scriptures (v2). Objection #2: Since you say many Jews are disobedient to God's law and liable to God's judgment, then is not God being unfaithful to His covenant with Jews (v3)? Answer: Absolutely not! God is true and faithful to His covenant, and judging sinners proves His faithfulness (v4). Objection #3: Since you say that Jews cannot obey God's low without having their hearts circumcised, is not God unrighteous to hold us accountable for this sin and inflict His wrath upon us (v5)? Answer: Absolutely not! How could He judge the world if He were not righteous (v6)? Objection #4: If our sin ultimately abounds to God's glory, why are we still condemned as sinners? Should we not sin more so that God's glory shines brighter (vs7-8)? Answer: If that is what you think, or if you accuse me of teaching such, then you prove your condemnation to be just (v8b).
