· Erroneous Notions

I. The Authority of the Ten Commandments

A. God's Authority as Creator (Deut. 10:14, 17)

B. God's Authority as Deliverer/Redeemer (Deut. 10:15, 21-22; 4:44-5:6; Ex. 20:1)

II. Two Functions of the Ten Commandments

       A.  To Reveal the Greatness of our Sin and Misery, thereby driving us to Christ (Rom. 7:7; 8:7; 3:19-20; Gal. 3:19ff)

B. To Teach the Believer God's will for Holy Living in Thankfulness to God

· Proceeds from True Faith
· To the Glory of God
· Galatians 5:13ff
· Romans 13:8-10
· The Last Six Commandments teach what it Means to Love our Neighbor as Ourselves.

Conclusion and Application

· Summation of Why Certain Views of the 10 Commandments are Erroneous
