Saul: What if?

It can be quite a mental exercise to look at historical events and ask, "What if?"

What if King Saul had responded to the Prophet Samuel's words regarding God's removing the kingship from him, with humility instead of pride?

The Bible makes quite plain that all the dreadful things that happened to him and his family after God removed him as king are the result of his own stubbornness and pride.

He refused to submit to God and he was turned over to a torturer, a tormenting spirit from God.
