All Whom the Father Draws Will Be Raised Up At The Last Day

24

On this resurrection Sunday, it is good for us to be reminded that the electing love of the Father and the redeeming love of the Son have a very particular application to the doctrine of the resurrection. In out text today, that connection is made very explicitly. In Romans 9 through 11, we have recently read about the doctrine of election and reprobation, and we will return to that subject next Lord's Day. But for today, we will pause and glorify our Lord and Savior for His victory over death and the grave. His victory is so complete, that we now have a firm assurance that He will raise up those who are His. That is, the doctrine of election is intimately connected with the accomplishment of Savior's redeeming work on our behalf. We rejoice that we have been graciously elected to salvation before the creation of the cosmos. But it is likewise worthy of rejoicing that the Savior, in the mystery of the eternal Covenant of Redemption, has also from eternity purposed to come, bear our sins unto the cross, and be raised for our justification. Hallelujah, what a Savior! – Pastor Schlegel
