God's Purpose in Your Trials

Main Point: Cultivate the perseverance that leads to Christ-like maturity.

1. James is speaking to you as the Christian community (vs. 1-2).
2. He knows you are faced with various trials, tests, and temptations (vs. 1, 2, 13-15).
3. At the same time, you have a deep-seated joy in Christ (vs. 2).
4. God is proving the quality of your faith (vs. 3).
5. And so, persevere and reap the fruit of perseverance (vs. 3, 4a).
6. The fruit of the process is maturity and wholeness (vs. 4b).
   Conclusion: Cultivate the perseverance that leads to Christ-like maturity.
