Introduction to Hebrews
Series Hebrews
138
The purpose of the book of Hebrews is to stir and excite. The Hebrew Christians were becoming complacent in their faith. The writer stirs and excites them by giving them a full Christology. God's people needed (and still need) to understand that there is no good thing outside of Christ.
The book of Hebrews demonstrates the superiority of Christ. Christ's offices of Prophet, Priest and King are so clearly articulated and set forth in this book. Christ is the complete and final revelation of God, He is the prefect and last sacrifice, and He is the sovereign King. The Hebrew Christians (just like us) were to find strength and encouragment in Christ and respond with a life of faith.
