Let Us Hold Fast

It takes courage and godly fear to be diligent to allow the word of God daily to work on us. For as we do we will discover things about ourselves that are unpleasant, and we may be temped to cry, "My sin is too great!" This may lead us back to a merit-based thinking. So the writer to to the Hebrews exhorts us, "Let us hold fast our confession," that is, our confession in the gospel that Christ's work is not only necessary, but all-sufficient for all our sins, past, present, and future.
