This passage is more than a little scary. Because in verses 10-15, Paul tells me that there will come a Day when my preaching will be evaluated by fire. I say my preaching because that is the focus of Paul’s comments – but I realize that my conduct plays a part in how my preaching is heard! But my ministerial labors will one day be revealed for what they are – by fire.

Judgment Day is coming. But Paul uses this not to terrify the congregation! He uses it to encourage them as to how they should think about ministers.
