CHRIST OUR SANCTIFICATION, PART 1:
THE COUNTERFEITS OF SANCTIFICATION

SUMMARY: In order to begin to understand the mysterious doctrine of biblical sanctification, we must first consider what it is not.

I. SANCTIFICATION IS NOT MORAL REFORMATION THROUGH DISCIPLINE.
A. Moral Reformation is a Necessary Part.
B. Discipline is a Necessary Part.

II. SANCTIFICATION IS NOT CULTURAL REFORMATION THROUGH ONE’S SURROUNDINGS.
A. It will Produce Cultural Reformation Within a Family.
B. It will Produce Cultural Reformation in a Society.

III. SANCTIFICATION IS NOT TRANSCENDING GOD’S COMMANDMENTS THROUGH A “HIGHER LAW.”
A. The Teaching of New Covenant Theology.
B. Response to New Covenant Theology.

IV. SANCTIFICATION IS NOT A SUDDEN, COMPLETE TRANSFORMATION THROUGH A SUPERNATURAL ACT OF GOD.
A. We Aren’t Waiting Passively for the Spirit to Fill or Move Upon Us.
B. God Isn’t Waiting for us to “Surrender to Him.”
