Resurrection, Faith and Hope - Life Hidden with Christ in God

Easter is a time when Christians take special note of Jesus' resurrection. This emphasis is not inappropriate, but it should be enlarged with the recognition that Christ's resurrection speaks to the all-encompassing resurrection principle of life out of death. Jesus' emergence from the tomb on the third day only culminated what began with His incarnation. Resurrection in relation to Jesus Christ speaks to His person first and foremost and only then to His final triumph over the grave: As true man, He is Himself "life out of death" - and not just with respect to mankind, but the entire created order. Jesus is life, and this means that Christians don't have Him in their lives; He is their life. Easter, then, ought to be a special reminder, not of Jesus' physical resurrection as such, but of the fact that His saints - as the whole creation - have their life in Him. The Church is the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
