The Glory of God

54

It is important that we have a good understanding of God's glory because we were made for God's glory. We have been saved to live for the glory of God, but often we have too small a view of the glory of God. We fail to see examples of God's glory all around us.

We need to have our eyes cleansed by the Word of God so that we see the magnitude of the glory of God. We need to be reminded of just how great God is. Then we can sing with more passion, live with more commitment, and be more zealous for the Glory of God!

Today during our time together in God's Word, I want us to consider 3 areas where we see the glory of God. Our text today begins in Exodus 33:17, but first let me provide a quick background so we understand what is going on.

  1. The Glory of God is seen in who God is.

We saw last week that the Name stands for the essence of the person.

God proclaims to Moses who He is.
2) The Glory of God is seen in providing a mediator.

These chapters of Exodus highlight the mediating ministry of Moses. Several times Moses intercedes for the Israelites, turning aside the anger of God. We might be tempted to give Moses glory for being a faithful mediator, but I say let us give God the glory for providing Moses to mediate in the first place.
As good as Moses was, God has provided an even greater mediator for man – His own Son Jesus Christ.
3) The Glory of God is seen in the transforming power of the New Covenant.
