Christ Our Passover
Series Exploring Exodus
94
On this Easter Sunday (better, Resurrection Day), we come to Exodus 12 and the account of the Passover. On the night he was betrayed, the night before he was crucified and put to death, Jesus transformed the covenantal meal of the Old Covenant, Passover, into the covenantal meal of the New Covenant, the Lord's Supper. This was not coincidental. The Passover is related to the cross of Jesus as the bud is related to the flower. The Passover, the great redemptive act of the Old Covenant, was a picture and promise of Jesus, the Lamb of God who saves his people from their sins. We need to understand the Passover historically, interpret it theologically, and apply it spiritually and practically in our lives.
