To Whom Much is Given

Paul knew that as a Jew he was raised with certain advantages which he lists in Romans 9:4-5. The include the adoption of the nation of Israel, the glory they experienced, the covenants, the giving of the law, the temple services, the promises, the patriarchs, and the human ancestory of Christ. Even with all of the benefits, when Paul met Christ, he had to count them as liabilities as they related to his realationship with Christ, as none of them had any saving or sanctifying power in his life.

In the same way, the church has been given many benefits - and those raised from childhood in the church have been given much, but the truth is that one can know a lot about God and yet not truly know Him.
