Birth of a Manchild

The reason Christ came into this world is to save sinners by the cross. For this reason the manger must stand in the shadow of the cross. We consider this on Christmas morning. All of this is firmly displayed in our text. All of history has its relevance in the birth of Christ with a view to the cross. Christ came to redeem His people to Himself and this redemptive act began with His birth and ended with His death and ascension into Heaven. He reigns there now. How wonderful!
