Diligent Anticipation

Peter begins this text with the word 'wherefore', and the context is in dealing with the end of the ages. The world is ignorant that the Lord is coming again, but Peter is speaking to us and is encouraging us to stand strong in our calling and is encouraging us to stand strong in our calling and position of life. We can look forward to the new heaven and earth. This is the hope of the Church. Since we live in this knowledge, what kind of life ought we to live? Peter describes that for us and this is all the more appropriate in today's world. We must be diligent in a sanctified and Holy life until our time has come to join God.
