The Mediator of God

This LD begins the second division of the Catechism and that is redemption. It is a temptation in the church not to start from the perspective of sin. This is a mistake. Sin consciousness always drives us to the cross and then to our salvation. This is important for us in our faith. Often we refer to the phrase salvation along the lines of sin and grace. We are sinners. We are not able to work our salvation. We are in need of a Redeemer, then, and that brings us to this Lord's Day. Christ is the only one who can grant us salvation because He is very God and very man. Christ came to save us from our sins, which brings us full circle to Sin and why we as Christians must hold that continuously before us. We consider God's Mediator.
