Ashamed of the Gospel
Series Topical Survey of Romans
110
Paul's obligation (verse 14) to the Gospel is not a guilt trip of legalistic religious duty, but that he has a debt to deliver the gospel to ALL peoples.
Being saved by the gospel should motivate us to be eager to preach it
Paul Not Ashamed of Gospel
-- Previously a rejecting Jew
-- Under Roman Rule should be scared
-- As Christian, rejected by all parties
-- Commissioned ambassador of Gospel
- GOSPEL POWER UNTO SALVATION
- Gospel itself is power
- As such, we are to PROCLAIM it

- stems from His holiness (otherness)
- displayed by Law
- evidenced in inflexible justice
- interacts in judgment verdict
- need to know Law cannot save, know
that all are sinners, need to repent
- RIGHTEOUSNESS REVEALED FAITH TO FAITH
- source of faith to purpose = faith
- v.16 righteous shall live by faith
- faith living constant and forever
- salvation equal to/for all
CONCLUSION: Must preach the gospel (God's demand for righteousness, our lack of keeping it, Christ's fulfilling it for us); live by faith in gospel (display and administer forgiveness that gospel brought to you in all areas of life and interaction)
