Mercy's Great Surprise

98

The appearance of Boaz in the story of Ruth is yet another indication of the part that God's grace will have in the events that will unfold. Boaz, as the son of Rahab, was well instructed in the reality of God's grace in the life of a desperate sinner. Rahab had been delivered by Joshua's order from the destruction of Jericho. She had, as instructed, displayed the scarlet line in the window of her house to indicate her trust in the blood atonement. In this part of Ruth, in the succeeding generation, Boaz displayed kindness to another who was born a stranger to Israel and who had become the object of thst same grace of God. Ruth did not have high expectations when she went outt to glean, but she received far more than she could ever have wished.
