The Disciples' Prayer, Part 2

Is God's will being done on earth today? Before you answer no, consider 'Our God is in heaven. He does whatever He pleases.' (Psalm 115:3) '...He does according to His will in the army of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth...' (Dan. 4:35) 'He works all things according to the counsel of His own will.' (Eph. 1:11). So is God's will being done on earth today? Before you answer 'yes,' consider this: Are you prepared to say it is God's will that parents abuse their children, that drunk drivers cripple or kill their victims? Are child molesters, thieves, slave-masters, adulterers, abortionists, dictators, satanists and serial killers doing what they do according to the will of God? Why is it necessary for us to pray 'Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven,' if God's will is already being done on earth? And if it IS the will of God that humans murder and steal and lie, why did God give us His Word to declare that it is NOT His will that we do such things? This second message in a series on The Lord's Prayer deals with the petition: 'Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.'
