The Blood of the Lamb

28 ( 24 | 4 )

Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin.
The Jews found through their history that the blood of bulls, goats and sheep could not cleanse their consciences of guilt. The priests had to offer the same sacrifices over and over, day in and day out, for centuries...in the faith that one day the One would come who would offer a sacrifice that would cleanse once for all time.

They lost their confidence in this act of faith and began to believe that the sacrifices themselves would be sufficient when added to their strict obedience to the Law and to Tradition.

The Scriptures had said that the just shall live by faith, and this statement was made before the Law was given. The works of the Law were to demonstrate faith through obedience rather than earning righteousness by their works.

Today, we will look at the necessity of placing our faith in the works of the Lamb who was given as the once-for-all-sacrifice. We needed a substitute to take our place under the penalty of death that is attached to our sin. The Bible tells us that Jesus is that Lamb.
