The LORD of Hosts, He is the King of Glory

25

When the Savior entered Jerusalem shortly before His crucifixion, He did so with great fanfare as is related to us in the Scriptural accounts. Those gathered in the great city for the Passover were energetic in their praises of the one they thought would deliver them from oppression and inaugurate a golden age of influence, prosperity, and power. That is, they thought they knew the divine plan. The problem is that their understanding was the result of their faulty and materialistic assumptions. They desired a savior according to their own lusts for power and a self-centered pride. As we know, the people turned on Him with as much fervor as they did when they rejoiced at His entry into the city. Their disappointment is echoed today in the world and even in the church. Human beings have always wanted a savior according to their own lusts and is therefore merely a reflection of themselves. But the true Savior is the one who in outward weakness was victorious. He is the one who, "…humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross." (Philippians 2:8) – Pastor Schlegel
