The Heart of an Apostle

Five key words help open up the content of the passage

1. Thankfulness - Paul is exemplary in regard to thankfulness, and here speaks of his thankfulness to God for these believers
2. Faith - the Roman Christians were not 'secret disciples' but rather their faith was known to all.
3. Prayer - Paul's prayer regarding his desire to visit Rome is exemplary and teaches both passion in prayer and submission to the will of God.
4. Encouragement - this characteristic of Paul's ministry is evident again in his desire to visit Rome in order that he might be used to bless the Christians there.
