The One True and Living God

17 ( 13 | 4 )

What are we to do with passages such as Genesis 6:6 "And the LORD regretted that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart." When the Westminster and Belgic confessions confess that God is without passions and immutable. One approach makes God distant and unapproachable. Another approach draw God near. In this sermon, we see that God's sovereignty allows us to read the Bible as the clear, honest, open word of God while recognizing theological truths from our confessions.

We also see that God is a judge who must banish sin. Because God's forgiveness actuall separates a believers sin, truly, their sin can be condemned while the believers comes through covered by the righteousness of Christ.

If man's chief end is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever, then our glorifying and enjoying are dependent upon our knowing the one whom we glorify and enjoy. This sermon show God's character revealed in the flood to the end that believers love him more and more.

Calvin said: Until men recognize that He is the author of their every good, — they will never yield him willing service. Nay, unless they establish their complete happiness in him, they will never give themselves truly and sincerely to him.

Thus, we want to know the one true and living God and worship Him.
