The Meeting with Mary

71

The distraught Mary Magdalene was astounded on resurrection morning when the Lord Jesus confronted her in the garden of the tomb. The speaking of her name was a revelation that he was not dead but alive, that he was not distant, but near, and not absent but present. Their relationship that had been terminated by his death was suddenly restored, and, oh, the joy in Mary's soul. Jesus would continue as her Lord, her Teacher, and her Comforter as he prepared for the ascension back to his Father (by nature) and her Father (by grace). After his ascension, the relationship would go on, but in a different way, as Christ would be with Mary by His Spirit, as well as with all his people throughout the ages.
