Pursue the Knowledge of the Lord & Live

Sermon Outline: Introduction
• There is a lack of True Knowledge of the God of the Bible in Many Churches Today
• In Many Church there are many Emaciated Sheep, Starving from the Lack of Knowledge of God – Spiritual Adultery Results
• Chapters One Through Three Illustrated the Spiritual Adultery that Permeated the Northern Kingdom of Israel

The Spiritual adultery of Israel and mercy of God Stipulated (Chapters 4-13)

   Lack of Knowledge of God (Chapters 4-6:3)

         1.  The Indictment of God (Chapter 4; 5:4)

• No Truth, Mercy, or Knowledge of God (4:1-2)
• The People are Destroyed (4:6)
o Deeds that Lead Away from God Result (5:4; 4:11; Romans 1:18ff)
o Foolishly Seeking Counsel from Idols (4:12)
o Unable and Unwilling to Repent (4:7-19)

         2.  God’s Rejection – Chapter 5  

• God Withdraws Himself from Them as They Seek Him Through Idolatrous Practices (5:6, 12)
• No Escape, No Healing, No Cure (5:13-15)

         3.  God’s Return/Repentance & Restoration (6:1-3)

• True Repentance Comes as a Result of being “Revived” (v. 2)
• A Real Desire to Know God as He has Revealed Himself in His Word will also Result (v. 3)

Conclusion:
• Which Side of the Equation Do you Fit?
• Won’t This Day Embrace with a Believing Heart all Benefits of Christ’s Work and Receive His Blessings that Belong to all Who Belong To Him by Grace alone through Faith Alone?
