You Must Be Born Again (John 3:1-21)

What was lifted up in the wilderness? The bronze serpent. A representation of that which afflicted them.
Why did Jesus have to die on a cross? What afflicts us? Our chief affliction comes not from outside us – but from within. Man's biggest problem is man. Therefore a man had to be lifted up.
The problem is that man keeps dying – and never coming back! Death always wins. We need a man who can triumph over death!
And that is what happened when the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.
