A Declaration of Doom

Jeremiah having given his prophecy concerning Judah that it would be besieged by the Chaldean Army of Babylon now comes to pass and Jerusalem is over thrown and burned with fire taking captive King Zedekiah and bring great humiliation upon him in 586 BC. Yet did they refuse to follow the words of the Lord and many great hardship befell the city and the people. The declaration of doom given by Jeremiah was not heeded and such is the desperate case of unbelief and rebellion against God. Though many mercies were offered by God, refusal brought the chastening hand of God and judgment for their sins of idolatry.
