A New Creature in Christ
Passage is based on 2 Corinthians 5:7.
Context
Corinth was a cosmopolitan city which teemed with many nationalities & false gods. The commercial wealth of the city also brought with it moral corruption.
The threat for the Corinthian church in such a place, as with any church, is the danger of it reflecting to some extent the culture in which it existed.
The church in Corinth operated in a grossly depraved society which continued to make its mark on the church. Many of the sins & the problems of the church found their basis in the life of the city.
The problem's at the church in Corinth can sound very familiar in many churches today - because of worldliness. The Apostle Paul really gets to the heart of the matter - which some of the Corinthians had - and so do many today have. That is - the absolute need to be made a new creature in Christ. To be born again!
Three points to aid the sermon:
- Our Absolute Need of the New Birth.
- How - does the new birth come about?
- The Results of the New Birth.
