The Dilemma of Islam

121

Islam is often known for its God of greatness, who can do whatever he wills. Christianity is often know for its God of goodness, who acts in accordance with his good nature. Which view is correct? The question is an old dilemma, faced by Christians and Muslims and even philosophers: Must God only will (and do) what is good? Or is whatever God wills (and does) good by definition? In other words, is God a law to himself, as if might make right? Oddly, there is truth on both sides, and the surprising answer to this dilemma lies in the Christian reality of the Trinity.
