Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread

Jesus taught us to pray, "Give us this day our daily bread." This petition is loaded with implications. By it we are taught that we depend on God for food and all other needs every day. No matter how full our pantries and freezers may be, we are still dependent on God every day. Jesus also teaches us to think day by day. He did not teach us to pray, "Give us this week our weekly bread" or "Give us this month our monthly bread." We are to live day by day, looking in trust to our heavenly Father to provide every day what we need.
