The Church That Jesus Builds

Aquila and Priscilla made the list. So did Onesiphorus. So, too, did Erastus, Trophimus, Eubulus, Pudens, Linus and Claudia. Incredibly, these men and women are on the Apostle Paul’s heart and deserve mention in his last written words before he was martyred. Why? Paul’s last words show that no Christian follows Jesus alone. Not even Paul. We are saved into a body, the church, which functions as each member needs others and is needed by others. When Paul wrote... “Grace be with you...” (2 Timothy 4:22) ...he wasn’t just referring to Timothy. He wrote to men and women like those named above, people who took seriously their role in the body of Christ by serving him and one another. This Sunday, we’ll finish our study of 2 Timothy 4 by considering our own calling to serve in the body of Christ.
