Conformity to Christ

God's people can know certain truths which bring them certain blessings—joy and peace and courage and fortitude, and so on. Knowing how God saves us and what that means fills us with assurance.

Our confidence is in what we know, found in the Scriptures and brought into our hearts and lives.

We know about God's control, his providential government of all things for the sake of those who love him. We know about God's call, how he brings his people to himself in order to bless them. And, we know about God's Christ, how to be like him is the highest and sweetest blessing that divine wisdom, love and power can devise and provide.

The scope of salvation, then, is to bring us to Christ, join us with Christ, keep us near Christ, make us like Christ, and ultimately put us in his presence. This is blessing indeed!
